Peterborough Folk FestivalCome enjoy the 35th annual Peterborough Folk Festival on August 15-18, 2024!Canada’s longest running free-admission folk festival is now in its 35th year! More than 15,000 people come together to enjoy our region’s second largest cultural event. Mark your calendars for August 15-18, 2024 for four days of music, culture and community as we come together on the hillside at Nicholls Oval Park next to the mighty Otonabee River. As a volunteer-run registered charity, your community leadership and support is vital to the success of promoting and preserving this cultural gem that’s inclusive, welcoming and accessible to everyone. In 2024, Peterborough Folk Festival will welcome over 30 artists and bands, including 12 local performers. The lineup once again features full gender parity and strong diversity, including Indigenous artists, artists of colour and artists from the LGBTQ+ communities. Peterborough Folk Festival 2024 will feature four days of music, with ticketed concerts on August 15 & 16 followed by two full days of the free-admission festival at Nicholls Oval Park on August 17 & 18.Platinum-selling indie folk trio Wild Rivers kicks off PFF 2024 with a concert at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, August 15th. Learn about some of the varieties of flowers we have on site, as you walk the grounds with our Greenhouse Grower and decide which flowers from our gardens you'd like for your floral arrangement. From the large state fair zinnias to the smaller more delicate fountain grass plumes, there are so many options for you to choose from. Join Clare from Big Beer Soap Company as she covers the chemistry behind soap making in simple terms, including what saponification is as well as the benefits of different oils, and butters and how to use a soap calculator. This class will unlock the secret of soap making, giving you the confidence to make your own soaps at home. Each student will leave with approximately 6 bars of soap a booklet with everything we have covered in the class including recipes, suppliers and links.
