Etobicoke (Lakeshore) Ribfest 2024

The 3rd Annual Etobicoke Ribfest 2024 Presented by Ontario Festival Group will take place at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, Kipling and Lakeshore, convenient for area residents and visitors from all over.

Pickering Fairy Tour 4+

Pickering's picturesque forest, village, and gardens are home to not only some incredible natural creatures, but also some magical ones! Locate and visit a series of whimsical fairy, elf, and gnome homes scattered in the village and forest while learning about the history and folklore of the magical creatures of the forest. Pickering's Fair Tour is an opportunity to see their world up close. Please note this walking tour includes gravel pathways and uneven ground. The tour takes place outdoors and will only be rescheduled in the instance of dangerous weather.

Tickets are timed entry. You may arrive between the times listed on your registration.

The tour is approximately 1 hour in length.

STORIES & SONGS OF STOMPIN' TOM

Since Whiskey Jack's inception 45+ years ago, their fans have been showering them with accolades, celebrating their songs and stories. But the one constant that has fueled their success is what brings the crowds to their feet each night - a polished show exuding charm, ease and playfulness. Since day one, band leader Duncan Fremlin has been welcoming elite members of the Canadian music community to the Whiskey Jack family.

Success took off in the 1980's when the band was invited to host their own "Ol' Back Porch" segment on CBC TV's Tommy Hunter Show. Then, when Stompin' Tom resumed his career, he called Duncan and invited Whiskey Jack to join him in the studio to record his acclaimed album, "Dr. Stompin' Tom... Eh?". These two Canadian musical institutions would continue to perform and record together until Tom's death in 2014.

Whiskey Jack in 2024 continues to write, record and tour across the country.

Today, Duncan is joined by two-time Juno nominee, Douglas John Cameron and Stompin' Tom's favourite fiddler, from PEI, Billy MacInnis. Douglas John is recognized across Canada for his 1985 hit, Mona With The Children (True North Records). That was soon followed by his weekly appearances on Ants in Your Pants (Treehouse TV). His theatrical and dynamic approach to performing, coupled with his talents on many instruments, bring an endless supply of energy to this already dynamic band.

Everyone who loves the legendary Guns N' Roses will know the GUNSLINGERS absolutely rock and deliver the goods! If you are a GN’R fan, you will not be disappointed, as they will play the songs you all know and love! Playing songs from Guns N’ Roses four main albums: Appetite for Destruction, GN’R Lies and Use your illusions I & II.

The Gunslingers are not a clone band or impersonators as most Guns N’ Roses tributes are, instead of wearing wigs and copying moves they put all of their effort and focus in representing Guns ‘N Roses music at its best and playing their songs with great accuracy, passion and dedication. They are huge fans, and we will make sure you get the best GN’R experience possible.

Gunslingers features Kelvin Lugo (Vocals / Rhythm Guitar), Frank Meza (Lead Guitar), Hector Besson (Bass), Valdemar Balza (Drums).

In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to:

- Work with royal icing, including learning the perfect consistency for outlining and flooding.
- Master the art of flooding a cookie for a smooth, professional finish.

Ajax Spirit Walk

The 2023 Ajax Spirit Walk will begin at Ajax Town Hall and will explore the surrounding area. Along the way, event participants will meet a variety of “Spirits” from the Town’s past, who will share the history and heritage of the area and how the Town of Ajax was born from Defence Industries Limited (DIL), the largest munitions plant in the British Commonwealth. Through these “Spirits”, courtesy of Ajax Community Theatre, you’ll discover what life was like for the DIL workers, approximately 7,000 of which were women. You'll learn about the incredibly important yet dangerous work these women did to help with the war effort during WWII.

Participants should be able to travel for approximately an hour, either on foot or with a mobility device. The Ajax Spirit Walk is a free event, however, registration is required. For more information and how to register, please visit www.ajax.ca/townevents.
