I remember talking to Imran as if it was yesterday, but actually, it was eight years ago! I had received an email from Imran asking if I could help him rent out the main floor of his home in Ajax. The catch … he was living in Dubai and was wondering how, logistically, it would work. For instance, how would offers be presented? How would showings be conducted? What kind of arrangements would he need to make with his tenant? Etc., etc.
I replied to his email asking if he could give me a phone number with the best time to call, or he could call me, which is what he did. I was driving down I-75 with my family to Florida and pulled into a Cracker Barrel parking lot. While my family went in to check out the emporium and get seated for something to eat, I stayed outside to talk with Imran.
Long story short, Imran had seen my name around town and had heard good things about me. I told him not to worry about the logistics. With modern technology, I’ve helped clients sell and/or buy while they were in different countries and in any time zone.
He had a couple concerns. One – how seriously would I take his listing since, in his words, it was only a rental and there wasn’t much commission. I told him we give the same 5-Star service to all our clients, whether they are buying or selling a $200,000 property, a $2,000,000 property, or helping them with a rental like his home. I emphasized that if we do a good job for him, whether it’s a purchase, sale or rental, that not only will he use us again, he will probably refer us to people he knows.
The second concern – he wanted me to personally look after his listing because, like I said above, he had heard good things about me. I let him know that I could look after the listing, but I was on my way to Florida and wouldn’t be back for a couple weeks. Plus, any agent on my team is an extension of myself. They have to follow my Home Buying and Selling Systems, which includes rentals. Although he was skeptical at first, he agreed to give it a try.
I assigned Janet to look after the listing. As I promised Imran, she followed my system and always kept him informed, even though he was in Dubai. She was on the ball and made sure everything was done on time. Best of all - the property was rented quickly and we made sure they ended up with a good tenant.
Imran was ecstatic with everything we did, as you can see from the email he sent Janet below:

I cannot thank you enough for your efforts, dedication and hard work that you put into listing our house and then closing the deal in minimum possible time which saved us $$.
Honestly, in the beginning, we were hesitant in Brian’s decision of transferring the listing to you and I even raised this with Brian as well, but he assured that he had full confidence in your abilities.
I must say here that you have not only held up his good words about yourself but have proven yourself to be a thorough professional, who takes her work seriously and works in the best interest of her clients.
I would also like to mention that even being thousands of miles away from my home your constant updates and effective communication made me felt as I was myself involved in every step of the process from listing to renting out my property, which quite is commendable.
Although we have many good things to share about our overall experience, but I think, perfect would be the right word to compile it here and once again would like to Thank you & wishing you the best of luck in your future deals.
